contest entry for DarkPitLoverson their contest themed after cute/chibi
Now it's not normally how people view 'cute' and I know I don't stand much a chance against the people who do see cute that way. I just like to try different approaches to contests with general themes like this.
I think I worded this best on tumblr when I showed a WIP version. I like the cliche cute things, don’t get me wrong. Cute stuff rocks. My favorite kind of cute though is endearing, emotional, platonic/unconditional love stuff.
I guess this is kind of an alternate universe in which selfless big brother Pit didn’t fall unconscious after burning his wings up and his first priority was tending the wounds of the independent Dark Pit who majorly swallows his pride in guilt and shock that someone actually thought his ‘unatural’ life was worth sacrificing so much to save.
Since it's chibi, I didn't really go too all out on making sure things like anatomy was consistent. So yeah, I know Pit is drawn looking stumpy next to Dark Pit, and I know there are lots of errors in drawing the wounds and stuff like that
but the contest was for fun, and I wanted to have fun too!
I didn't want to stress about making something as perfect as I could and took this opportunity to relax a bit which was really nice to do after all the commission work!
Also I went with this super simple art style because it's been awhile since I worked with it and I had lots of fun coming up with the lines

Never really liked shipping characters that much XD my favorite thing is developing platonic bonds! No offense to anyone who ships them, of course. I just don't think everyone has to be crammed into a relationship.

Uprising ended with the two on good terms and helping each other out
So I do not believe they are enemies at all.

From what we see in later chapters, they are on pretty good terms after they saved each other, fought together, and sacrificed for one another.
We don't know AFTER those events what happens, but it does show they were okay with each other at that point, so I am inclined to believe while maybe not the best of friends, they're not enemies at this time.
Besides, it makes NO SENSE to me why Dark Pit would find an enemy in Pit after the whole realization thing of if something happens to Pit, it affects him as well. Even if it's for selfish reasons, it's in his best interest to keep Pit alive, unharmed, and well.
"I did it! I killed Pit! I'm-" *falls over dead as well*

Which makes me a little upset that the cast was so quick to declare him an abomination in need of termination when all he did was exist. Even a character who is praised for her 'benevolence', decided 'yeah, he dies'

I've seen that quite often in several stories. And not just on artificially-created beings, clones or similars, but also in natural-born ones (most often due to their lineage), they're hated and/or persecuted just for "existing".

I can understand them being hated by the characters in game, or whatever the clone is from, because it probably leads to character and plot development later
but by fans?
I mean...people hate Dark Pit because of some of the stupid reasons! Some even hate him because they feel he is taking attention away from Pit and Palutena. That's awfully selfish to hate on a character and fans of that character just because they are not paying attention to the character THEY personally like.

Tell me about it. I had a similar vein in the Naruto fandom, with the Hinata vs. Sakura (and extended to the NaruHina vs. NaruSaku) war, which seemed to go NUCLEAR when The Last Movie was announced. You can imagine the reaction with Hinata being ascended from supporting to main character for the movie, and beating out Sakura as Naruto's main love interest. I don't know if you're aware of this, but some raging fans even went as to make an online petition to have Naruto BANNED in America unless Kishimoto makes a NaruSaku alternate ending.

When you hate another character just because other people like them more than your favorite character, you got a problem, and you need to get out of the fandom right now XD
It's not even that Dark Pit is more popular than Pit! In fact he is probably the most hated character not only in smash brothers, but the Kid Icarus fanbase hate on him alot! What do they care if a few people want to be his fans?

Yeah. Let's face it, when it comes to favorites (characters, pairings, etc), everyone will fall in at least one of the "minorities". I've got my share of them, but I'm not gonna force anyone to come and like what I like. Live and let live, as the saying goes.
