I’ve generally enjoyed your work, at glances here and there, and I’ve found your depictions in derelict churches to emphasize the tragedy of their abandonment, but this...
In Scotland, there’s these carved boulders that were used as alters for open air liturgies 1500 years ago, and on and off over the centuries, have been used again and again, most recently by Orthodox monks.
Once consecrated, the alter, above all, remains sacred, however long between liturgies it must wait, as long as it exists.
Subsequently, I just can’t approve of this. It’s a matter of vital principle. It could easily still be salvaged for another church even it that building cannot. While the intended symbolism is worth pondering, actually physically interacting with any alter anywhere in the world like that just isn’t worth it.
Goodbye.
