So how can a Dark Matter feel lonely if they're part of a hivemind? That's because despite being from the same colony, neither Gooey nor Blade are connected to said hivemind, they have their own thoughts and feelings. And because of this, they're often treated poorly by their own brethren.

Things do get better for Gooey after he gets banished. But once Gooey leaves, Blade's emotions fester until he eventually takes them out on the residents of Popstar.
