On our way home from this last trip... when I woke up on the morning of November 2nd... I said to my sweet hubby Bob *MarquisDeAhhs that my "drive-by shooting" challenge for today would be to actually get a complete capture
of the sign for Toad Suck Park on Interstate Highway I-40, in the Conway, Arkansas metro area 
Now... it may not seem that getting a picture of a simple picture of a road sign would be that difficult 
...but, in this particular case it is! 
Because, when you are approaching the exit for Toad Suck Park [link] the sign is not visible until you come around a curve in the highway... and then you have about 6-10 seconds (remember this is at 65 miles per hour! 
) before you're past the sign! 
on our previous trip thru Conway... I got 1/2 of the sign! 
Anyways
the real "challenge" this time 
...became the fact that darkness was approaching quickly... and if you've never done any drive-by shooting... you'll soon learn that once the light begins to fade... the clarity in your shots does too Buuuuuuuutt 
I got very lucky 
...and if you look at the exif data... you'll see that I captured this image at 6:10 p.m. (fortunately Daylight Savings Time didn't end until the following Sunday morning!) ...and Bob did a great job driving... and keeping us moving ...so that we got there in time! 
But, as this capture proves
Toad Suck Park is a real place!! 
The truth is stranger than fiction!

According to a local website, the town got its name as follows:
What does "Toad Suck" mean anyway? Well, the answer is quite simple... Long ago, steamboats traveled the Arkansas River when the water was at the right depth. When it wasn't, the captains and their crew tied up to wait where the Toad Suck Lock and Dam now spans the river. While they waited, they refreshed themselves at the local tavern there, to the dismay of the folks living nearby, who said: "They suck on the bottle 'til they swell up like toads." Hence, the name Toad Suck. The tavern is long gone, but the legend and fun live on at Toad Suck Daze.
