We'll, Pegasi have to learn it somehow.
And you know what they say in the Air Force: "ANY landing is a good landing.....if you can walk away from it...." XD

I'm not sure I'm remembering right, but I could've sworn Fluttershy got pushed off a cloud by a flight instructor in a similar fashion at flight camp. Though I could be remembering it wrong.
Regardless, I actually wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a part of how pegasi learn to fly.

pretty sure most pegasi don't push their foals out of trees, too low to the ground.
pushing them off the edge of cloudsdale or a high cloud, sounds like it'd be high enough though.
begs a lot of questions though,
obviously they'd wait till the foal had started to fly around the house first
and tossing them off a cloud would be to get them used to heights and open skies.
but what if they didn't open their wings, and had to be rescued at the last minute
How soon do they try again ? as soon as they get back to the cloud ?
how many times in a day would they throw the foal off the cloud in an attempt to over come their fear of heights ?
do they wait a while for the foal to calm down ? ten minutes ? an hour ? a day ? a week ? a month ?
How traumatised would a foal be afterwards ?
Do some parents not have the heart to toss their foal off a cloud ?
do they hire an instructor to toss their foals off of clouds ?
obviously an instructor would be driven to produce results
if a foal refused to fly, would a flight instructor just spend all day tossing the poor foal off the edge of the cloud ?
i wonder if this would explain why Fluttershy is so scared of heights.
