Liam. From the Tales of the Fatherless series.Awake, restless, but motionless in the darkness, Liam stared out at the nothingness, the blackness.
And waited.
Time dragged on, and somewhere above, the stars whirled, tiny points of light, shattered glass against the inky sky. He knew they were there. They had always been there. His whole life he had watched them from afar, humbly appreciative of their cold, solemn, endless march through the night skies, ever-observant watchmen of the sleeping world below.
He had to see them again. Just once more.
