That looks delicious and fancy. Is lava cake hard to make at home? I always thought of it as something for professionals at restaurants.

Lava cakes aren't as difficult to make as you would think. They're actually very simple! The hardest part I would say is finding the right mold to put it in. My dad and I used ramekins, but custard cups and muffin tins also work. Another thing you have to watch is the heat of the oven and how long you leave them baking. My oven's a bit on the cold side, hence why the first batch we made was so runny. The cake in the picture was baked a bit more carefully than the first two cakes we made.

Hm. I first heard of lava cakes from the show "Master Chef Jr." where a kid impresses Gordon Ramsay with a perfect cake. So that may be how I came to think they were master chef level.

They're really rich and super chocolatey, but also really yummy! They're not too hard to make either. So long as you have the right ingredients and the means to bake them, you can make them! We used ramekins to bake ours, but you can use a muffin pan too if you've got one!
