Hello people! Here’s a little bit of cosplay advice which I have wanted to share with you for a while now.

When I cosplay, I always use a wig and make-up, and I also try to encourage others to do the same. In the photos above, you see why. In all of these, I’m wearing my England cosplay (WWII uniform), and the only things that vary in the photos are my hair and my face.
(NOTE: I’ve got England’s large eyebrows in all of the photos, even the “no make-up” ones, simply because they are such an important characteristic.)

People often seem to use their real hair for cosplay, and the reasoning behind this is often very logical. I mean, if you have short, blond hair, why not use it for an England cosplay instead of buying a wig? The thing is, in 99.9% of all cases, a wig looks so much better when it comes to both colour and style. Also, even if you style your hair perfectly in the morning when you’re going to, for example, a con, the styling will most likely be ruined after just a few hours. You run around, you get sweaty, etc, and then you also have to style it every day of the con. It’s so much easier and more convenient with a wig, as it doesn’t require much attention after you’ve styled it the first time, and it stays the way it is, unlike your own hair which will soon grow out again. When you have a wig, you can do whatever you want with your real hair, and don’t have to cut and dye it for a specific cosplay. If you just look through ebay, you can find really great quality wigs to a decent price, so it won’t leave you all broke.

One might also think that when you cosplay as a male character you won’t need make-up, since the character obviously doesn’t wear any. But make-up doesn’t have to equal a feminine look. When used correctly, make-up can conceal pimples and other skin flaws, and even make you look more masculine. I’d suggest all cosplayers to use it regardless of what character they are cosplaying. Later I’ll put up a sort of tutorial where I show you what kind of make-up I use while cosplaying male characters.

These small things do a lot of difference to your appearance, and it only takes around 10-30 extra minutes to put on make-up and a wig.

Now I’d just like to apologize for the bad photos (which were taken with my cell phone) and for the fact that the image is ugly as hell, but at least that’s not the point of this.
