My first LotR drawing. I originally intended to submit to a site that was soliciting Silmarillion pictures, but didn't get scanned in time. It's Melian and Thingol--a very overlooked couple in Tolkien's universe. I must admit it was fun imagining them as sort of a proto-Luthien and Beren. It really was hypocritical of Thingol to get upset about his Elven daughter marrying a Man when he was an Elf who married a Maia. *shrugs* Anyway, I thought the image of their meeting was lovely and I just wanted to try my hand at drawing it out.Related content

I don't know what about this is so attractive to me, but something with the incrediable simplicity, faint curls and weathered color makes me think of old english stained glass. Lovley.

I love her hair! I haven't finished the Silmarillion yet but these two really always stick in my mind. I mean there decendents, how some people have a some Maia blood in there veins, very interesting. Elrond & Aragorn are in there I think.
