CURSE HER HANDS OF EVIL!!! They suck, I know >_< I hate hands! I need someone to pose for me in order to get proportions, and things like the hands, right, but that's not gonna happen. I am actually making a skirt like that at the moment though!

PLEASE full view!!!

Designs and characters (c) me! (DO NOT STEAL!!! If you wanna make one of my designs, send me a note and we can discuss it)

i love your work...its amazing, the shading is very good, and you put a lot of imagination into it, one thing that i have noticed though is that you have trouble with the proportions and "selling" your picture. Sorry. But in this picture the shoulders are up too high. It looks kinda funny....im sorry...i really do love your work though, the head btw is just amazing, it has a very cute twist to it....

I know I have proportion issues because I've never taken an anatomy class or studied from real models or anything like that yet. I do things off the top of my head, and only sometimes (when drawing a new pose or something) use myself as a reference, but only for a moment, then I go back to remembering how it looked in my head and doodling that.

I actually think I used another drawing as a reference for the top part of this pose. I'll have to find that later when I'm on my own comp *is at school*

I don't really try to "sell" my pictures because they're just spur of the moment doodles that I might take 10 minutes to a few days to finish. I do them for fun and in the case of these fashion designs, to show off the designs I've created, not the character modeling the design.

I wanna thank you for the criticism though. It's something I really appreciate to help me further my skills.

I love your fashion designs. I knew a girl who was going to school for costume design and she would always talk about how superior costume design was to fashion design, how much more work went into it, more research and so on. But I think now that I should have asked her if designing clothes that could be worn by people in everyday life was really so 'beneath' her... aren't what we think of as 'everyday' women as much full of mystery and wonderful contradictions as any fictional character?

Anyway, that's my rant.

Now about the drawing... I love the hair. So cute. I love the skirt, the flow of it and the clean lines of the top and corset. Your shading is real good here, very 3-d.

I think either costume or regular fashion design could involve a lot of research, etc, depending on how it was done. Yeah, it'd be kewl to wear Renaissance garb around all the time, but it's not practical. Making fashions that are a lil whimsical, beautiful, stylish, and (when possible) practical is the goal, I think. Thanks for the comment! ^^

I'm now thoroughly convinced that those corsets just work with everything. I need to make some ^__^;

Beautiful skirt, too! How do you plan on making it? Lots of parts that come to points, or just take a petal skirt and add more points to it?

Mwaha, they DO!! For that one, the pieces are pointed on each side and curve upward toward the center of the piece (kinda difficult to describe). Just sew a bunch of those together, sew them into a standing fitted waistband, and hopefully all will work out We shall see. Still handbeading the skirt right now, so it may be a while before I finally hem it, line it, and add the waistband.

Hey!.... her hands look great! I hate drawing hands more than anything so I practice them alot. lol
I think maybe it's her head that's too small that night be it... lol
But it's very cool.

Hehe, there's always something wrong with all my doodles, but that's mostly cuz I haven't really studied models or anatomy before, but I'm learning Thanks for the comment!

Thanks! I think your skirts had more panels than mine does (mine's only 8 panels), and I'm still messing with the evil wide waistband

MistressKristin In reply to ladylucrezia [2006-01-23 03:52:46 +0000 UTC]

The pattern for mine was an 8 point petal, but I made it a 10 point, so I could have an elastic waistband rather than a fitted waistband.
