Thanks, Jim. Both the frame and the Christmas bauble are made with apo. Cool, eh?

That's really cool! You're the magician of Apo!

Erm, well, I don't think I'd go THAT far, but it's nice of you to say it.

I sent one of my fractals to one of my friends. He wondered what the guy who made it had smoked. He didn't understood who made it. But I got a good laugh! So who needs drugs to have fun?

Not I, but there are lots of people unable to have fun without them.
Sad.

Well, you did a good job there too! You're enjoying the script?

Oh, yes. As usual, it will join the list of my favourite scripts, of which yours form the vast majority!

Thanks a lot, Jacqui. I have lots of empty frames. Maybe I should do a series of framed fractals!

Is the frame made in apo as well?

LadyLyonnesse In reply to purple-whirlpool [2007-12-13 21:12:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes, using another script. I did write a tutorial for creating the frames, called making Frames with Apo Flames, but I lost it!

Awww that's a shame.

Maybe I'll work on writing another one. It is really easy to make frames, to be honest. It just takes some fiddling, and because I don't have PS, I'm not sure how the instructions would translate.

so how did you get the christmas one into the frame one without Paintshop? Or are they all one flame?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyLyonnesse In reply to purple-whirlpool [2007-12-13 23:13:06 +0000 UTC]

No, made the frame, saved it as .jpg, made the fractal, saved as .png, cut out the centre of the frame in paint.net, saved it, placed the fractal and then added the layer of frame on top. I will write the tutorial!

Oh I see, it's layered. Ok. I just thought you didn't have means to do layering. Would love to know how you made the frame

LadyLyonnesse In reply to purple-whirlpool [2007-12-14 13:46:48 +0000 UTC]

Paint.net allows layering, it's just I don't use it often because I find it's a very 'cumbersome' program and prone to failure at any given moment! I once worked on a piece with 4 layers and after 3 or 4 reboots because of the program freezing, I gave up. I lost so many hours of work.

I think this fractal is the first one I've done since then.

Oh that sounds extremely frustrating. I know what you mean though, just remember what I told you about the 'undo' list in Corel. I used it again on my lastest post of the horse, after I'd done just a few things on the picture, thinking it wouldn't have trouble as I'd only made about 10 changes to the image and it still couldn't do it without screwing it up totally. Luckily I hadn't spent much time on it so nothing much wasted.

I do. Hopefully it won't be too long before mine is with you. Of course with all the Christmas post it'll take 10 times longer than usual!
