Description Historically, Jane grew a great deal of sympathy toward Mary after serving Mary's mother Katharine of Aragon as a lady in waiting during Katharine's divorce. Jane was also Catholic, considered the old/true religion, of which Katharine and Mary staunchly were.
Before Jane became Queen she asked Henry VIII about Mary being restored as an legitmate heir, Henry laughed and called her a "fool" for thinking such a thing. This did not deter Jane, after marrying Henry, she would bring the issue again and again, eventually Mary would return to her father's favor, a mere two months after Jane became Queen.
Jane and Mary would become very close, Jane often longed for Mary to stay at court with her. In the end, when Jane died, Mary was devestated by the loss of the woman who had treated her so kindly. Mary would be Jane's chief mourner at her funeral. Mary would also be named godmother of Jane's son: Edward VI.

Jane Seymour and Mary Tudor as portrayed on 'The Tudors' by Annabelle Wallis and Sarah Bolger.

oh yes, Jane...
If only she wouldn't have died so soon. Henry needed her to calm his crazy old soul.
