A relatively new couple to the Maelstromverse: Taivo (Tai x Ivo)Ivo Durand (as you probably know) is the pirate captain of the Scorpio, but what you didn't know is that he's in a relationship with Tai Song, the weaponsmaster of the ship. Tai is skilled in many forms of weaponry, but her favorite are throwing knives...or just knives in general. Ivo’s vest was part of Trenton’s original design until I decided it looked too piratey so it was given to an actual pirate. If you look closely you can see that Tai’s throwing knives have been well-used… I don’t have enough finished pictures of Ivo and this couple is a lot of fun (and very, very dangerous

I can tell that I'm gonna like these two already! True "partners" in crime. LOL I like how Tai's throwing knives don't have any type of handles... it makes them look more dangerous.

They've been a lot of fun to write this week (since I've been working on thumbnailing/rough scripting the Ivo Chapter)! Yeah, Tai has a huge collection of knives--the throwing ones she goes through quick because they seem to get lodged in people/things when raiding ships so she has to constantly replenish her supply.

I also love Tai's outfit, the tattoos are incredible and her corset is gorgeous!

Heehee! Thank you! Sorta a worldbuilding spoiler, but a lot of ladies in the Maelstromverse have a crush on him too and hope that he'll raid the ships they're on so he'll take them captive. ;D
I wanted to give Tai something practical but also feminine; plus white symbolizes death in the Chinese culture so that's fitting for her too, and better than cliche Bad Guy Black! I'm working on designing a vest for her so she can strap some more throwing knives to her back when raiding ships.
It's a side of Ivo that the crew (and most people in the world of Maelstrom) don't see often...and I LOVE IT TO BITS. I've got a bunch of sketches of them I'll be posting in a Maelstrom-themed sketchdump soon!!

This is a truly dangerous couple, a couple that's worth a mighty take down! If they manage to get Trenton by himself and team up on him it can be pretty bad.

Guns and Knives forever! lol I was going to include it as an inside joke that Ivo stole that vest from Trenton during one of their past encounters just to spite him. xD
Now there's an idea! They'd be evenly pitted too since the same inventor designed both of their prostheses.
