So I started toying with an idea I came up with nine years ago involving some X-Wing pilot OCs this past week partially because 1), those X-Wing: Wraith Squadron books I read in junior high are my guilty pleasure and I want to craft characters as memorable as those someday, and 2), I want to write a story with an Imperial protagonist because I'm kinda annoyed by the Faceless Imperial Bad Guys thing. I mean, they're fighting for something too (not always something good), but something nonetheless!

Thane Zarken is the new version of who used to be a side character in my loosely-plotted X-Wing story from 2009. This version starts out as a hardcore Imperial TIE Interceptor pilot and eventually comes to realize the Empire isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, but not before his fellow pilot and friend Rogen Callis defects before him, knocks Thane unconscious, hauls him into a stolen Imperial Shuttle with the Rebel who talked him into defecting (who he freed from the brig), and forcibly takes him to a Rebel Cruiser where he'll spend about two weeks locked up in their brig threatening to escape and blow their ship up when he gets back in his TIE fighter again.

Rogen used to be the main character in the original story who would have been raised by a smuggling crew, and was also (not cliche at all!) Force Sensitive. He's since been demoted to Thane's wingmate and friend who is the first to realize that the Empire is pretty dang corrupt when he has some unauthorized chats with a captured Rebel spy. He becomes a source of a lot of useful information for the Rebels while working against his former employers too.

Avira's design was completely revamped (you can see the original version of her in my gallery--it's one of my Throwback Thursdays), and so was her backstory. She was raised on a mining colony on an asteroid--more of a mining city, actually--that her father was in charge of. She was close with her older brother, Tralik, and the two left the city when the Imperials took over to use the facility for producing ores for their ships (and also because the Moff in charge had their father assassinated when he tried to negotiate about the whole ordeal). I'm thinking of sticking with the half-dyed hair look on the far right instead of the full-on mane of maroon.

Tonni is the tech expert of the squadron and loves anything having to do with electronics and hacking. She's also very hyper and is always working on or finishing new projects and making everyone look bad. She happens to be 2nd in command of Krayt Squadron too, which is intimidating for the others who feel like they don't put in enough effort.

Ged used to be human until I made him into a Zabrak for reasons. I might change his design later though...

Some face concepts for Yeord,

And Krayt One (Or "Krayt Leader") who I need to give a proper name!

Ok, it's getting close to my bedtime; if I doodle these guys, I'll post more pics of 'em later.
