Hello, really good tutorial! Can I ask what method u used to take bits of each cloud picture to make one picture? DId u use lasso tool? Or did u use a soft brush to erase and smudge at the edges to blend it? Plz answer! I am trying out space art. Thanks. )

You just select interesting parts you think will turn out good.
Start with putting the images on top of each other in layers and then play around with *blending modes until you get a look you want. Erase bits 'n parts you don't need/want until you come to a desired result.

Its a great tutorial, but I learn better from going through the steps of a walkthrough over and over again than expirementing. I feel that I need to get the process of doing it, is what I'm trying to say.

This is a very well made tutorial, I did learn some interesting things

Btw do you possibly know of any other tutorial made by someone that can give a walkthrough of how to get to a base like in this tutorial using that cloud picture technique?

not any directly but search google, there's a whole bunch of good ones out there to be found and tried out

Think good and make sure you practice alot. There's no shortcuts to skills, just get 'em, hard from hours 'n hours of trainin hehe.

We all gotta start from somewhere.

What blending modes do you suggest the most.
I know that all of them can be used to make a great
nebula, but I've attempted to follow your tutorial
with clouds all different colors from each other, and just got a really ugly image, i didn't even attempt to do the brightness and contrast after i got an even more horrible image after changing the color adjustments.

ladyrapid In reply to Dipschmidt [2008-07-28 18:16:03 +0000 UTC]

The most usable blending modes for cloudphotos and such I find is "Color dodge" and "Screen". This is a technique I no longer preform but stil the blending modes can be used in all genres and forms. It's all in the photos you use. You gotta play around and choose those blending modes that suits You and what You want to achieve .

I really love this tutorial. I've noticed that just darkening doesn't always get rid of what you selected while feathering, then again, I just feather selected a lot of sections from different cloud stocks. Killer Tutorial, I have never created a nebula this real before. Thank you, and kudos! I'm gonna this as well.

I will write a new one, which by the time will be atleast like 200 times better and more up-to-date .

I'll take photomanipulation AND brushing into concideration, will be kickass! It's needed, everybody still asks me for pointers and such on how that previous one was made. This time I'm going advanced so that you'll see all tha tidy nifty things you can make
