Personally I think Mycroft knows Sherlock's still alive, but if he doesn't I will be heartbroken beyond belief.The text is Dean's speech to dead Sam from Supernatural season 2 episode 22. Watched it the other day whilst in Post-Riechenbach Depression and thought of Mycroft and Sherlock. Sadness ensued.

In the books Mycroft is aware of it, and I can asusme that the creators shall stick to the theory... but come on... This has just controlled everything I was trying to write for a project! It'd be amazing if BBC had a whole touching brotherly moment like this and Sherlock gives a stupid remark pretending to dismiss the sentiment reasoning that Mycroft had already figured it out before an awkward pause (Pha, sorry I ramble)

It's actually part of the original stories that Mycroft knows - and that he's the only person who does for two years, except for Colonel Sebastian Moran (Moriarty's number one). In the books, it's because Sherlock needed money from Mycroft in order to survive - and, ultimately, track down Moriarty's employees.

If you ask me, I'd prefer it if Mycroft didn't know he was alive, at least for a while.
For one. We already know that Sherlock can trick Mycroft into genuinely believing someone else is actually dead (since Mycroft seemed pretty much convinced that Irene was murdered.)
And I bloody well want to see even the tiniest cracks in that damn ice body of his, if he does believe Sherlock's dead, he can do all sorts of tiny, grief related things... like neglect his diet a little, say things he wouldn't normally say...
I want to see his mask crack a little, that's all... I want a tiny bit of canonical pain...
And all in all, for a short period, at least, I want Sherlock to get a one-up on his "smarter older brother" just for as much time as it takes for him to suss it out...
Does that me some kind of sadist? Wanting him to be all grief stricken?

If you do mean Season 3 (and not Season 2) then you have no reason to worry on that front. Season 3 hasn't even gone into production yet... they won't start filming it until next year (due to their lead actors having current cinema commitments)
I was just saying what I would like to see of Mycroft's emotions in Season 3, that's all
Just a shame it'll be over a year before anyone gets to see the third series, just rest assured that there definitely is going to be one (and that it will be awesome, because the writers will have had plenty of time to iron out any plot issues)

Well I didn't have to badger my friends into watching the series (mum just turned to me one day and said "shall we watch Sherlock downstairs today?" And I said "Yes, of course, but make sure them two don't think it was my idea..." )
They still haven't watched series 2 (even though I leant them both dvd box sets.) and every time I have a glazed, cheery look on my face, my friend knows that I'm "Sherlocking".

In the original story Mycroft not only knew that his brother was alive but was his link back to everything that was going on in England...so it's probably he has a clue...Plus with all the government practically at his disposal he probably could figure it out quickly. XD
