This was supposed to just be a headshot/bust and simple color but since 1st place in raffle was the only one who got an art gift, and when I saw her character, inspiration just sort of took off. I had to upgrade it to a background and a half body. I wanted to incorporate a hand gesture, flowing hair, and inject some art nouveau theme into it however I am novice in this history of art and style. It gave me a chance to stretch out and try something new and explore different themes, as well as work again with my new Faber Castell ink pens.

The flowers are in theme with the character I feel not only because of the color choices used to match the characters palette but its complimentary colors and theme. Since the character is part of a night/dusk (twilight) people I though the frame should have flowers that were known to bloom at night. The top purple flower is a type of water lily, the yellow are common evening primrose, there is also a breed of morning glory, (Despite its name some breeds only bloom at night, or all day long I guess.) and there is a... flower I found that I really liked and I had just sort of drawn it without really thinking. Turns out its tobacco... lol I don't endorse smoking even if I do have characters with this filthy habit. It may look neat for art and movies and media alike for its grit, but in no way shape or form do I think its cool in real life. (Also coming from a heavy smoking family I now have asthma as a result of it.) So I highly discourage its use. Who knew tobacco had white flowers? They look amazingly beautiful though, and it turns out that they smell abundantly spicy and lovely from what my husband tells me. Some things in this world whether or not they hold a negative connotation still have something positive and beautiful to provide.

***Poof because I had too, I've been messing with the gimp alterations to see if lighting and effects can enhance work and while I didn't get much out of it I found a cool way to take traditional work and make it into something different. :3
