How many times do artists get asked to draw something, and people just expect it for free? It's work, especially when you're doing someone's OC and you have to try to interpret someone else's imagination. It can take hours, even days of your time. Yet people get put out when you ask them to pay for it. For some of us, it's how we attempt to make a living. For others, it's a hobby, but we could certainly use the extra income. And maybe for a rare few, we enjoy it and we can afford to give it away. I'm the second one. I'd love nothing better than to quit my day job, but art and fan fiction writing don't pay the bills.
