Creative title is creative.This was the first painting of the Doctor and Charley I did, but I wasn't completely pleased with Charley's likeness. I do like enough about this to post it, though. I just like the likeness on the first one I posted (the last one I painted) best.
BBC and Big Finish own these fabulous people, I just paint and hope for the best.

At first I saw the watch in her hand, and I squeed like a fangirl "ZOMG! She's wearing his watch!" Then I noticed he still had his watch, and I was all "Oh, well they have matching watches, which is kinda the same."

Yes on both accounts! I've been working on the theme tune thing for a little while now, and Eight and Charley will be part of it! It will be done in time, if not earlier, worry not! The image itself should be very flexible when all is said and done, so you'll have lots of options for how to use it.

My fav doctor. Finally these two are brought to life in fanart although I'm sure there'd be much more of them on here I haven't been bothered to look. This just looks great and they look so happy together.

I did have to come up with the outfits, yes. And the hairstyle. AND I had to decide if she was going to be big into the makeup trends of the day, and whether that would continue into the TARDIS etc etc etc. There's so much of a character that is usually done for you when you illustrate a television companion, that Charley was twice the research as, say, Jamie. I really like to make sure I do lots of reading when I'm drawing a historical companion, so I learned about color palettes of 1930, regulation kilt lengths and all sorts of other wonders from doing all this Who-art!

The research sounds fun, actually! From my own prior sewing/costume days, I'd definitely say you nailed a progressive sort of 1930's look.

I love the research part! I just like knowing stuff. Being an illustrator is the best way to get some really bizarre and strangely specific patches of knowledge.
