Amazing! I can't seem to get enough of your style. I keep coming back to your gallery to look at your art over and over.
Funny you should mention that Swan's Superman is your favorite because he's my favorite too, and I also consider all the Superman stories from the Byrne reboot onward fake! What are the odds?

As much as I disagree with you about Byrne's interpretation of Superman, I just love Superman in general too much to not say that this is a great piece (it really is a cool drawing of what Superman should look like, in general <3)

I dunno. For me, my favourite Superman will always be Jack Kirby:fuckyeahkirby.tumblr.com/post/… . I mean Curt Swan's okay, but I always thought his art was just to sterile for me. Golden age superman is badass too, if a bit destructive.

I really like Kirby's Superman, too, actually. I love Swan's work, though, and he's the master of the character in my mind. A lot of people say he's dry, stiff, sterile, etc, but I think he's got this really great workmanlike solidity in his cartooning.

DANG. That is sweet. I feel like you should make an addendum for All Star, though.

Thanks. I didn't want to make him look super-ripped so I decided against any linework in there, but I wanted to play with a little bit of modeling, so... compromise.

Fabulous.
I feel your pain. In my head I know what he looks like too, and in all the drawings I've ever done of him EVER, I think I only produced one that I felt nailed it.
Besides your aforementioned champion artists of the Man of Steel, I must say I don't mind others' interpretations of him as long as he still excudes that Superman vibe, and not just (as my crap drawings of him can attest to) a muscly fella in a Superman costume.
And yes, Silver Age Superman is the Superman.

Yeah, there's definitely some kind of hard-to-pin-down super-ness that some artists seem to be in touch with, and others don't. I think one element of it is youth: a lot of folks draw superman with a really young face, but that just doesn't work for me. SuperMAN has to look like he's in his 30s.
