xWhiteDreamsx traded me an AWESOME sketch to vector, and it just so happens to be a perfect candidate for my new deviantID! Why, you ask? Well, do you recognize that book? To me, that book is full of meaning. The very first thing we see upon entering the beautiful world that is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the opening of that book (and its closing may be the last we see at the end of it all). To me, that book represents more than just the Elements of Harmony. It represents the whole story... that entire world... and I can't get enough of it. My Kindle is positively overflowing with fanfics, my folders are full of art, and I have a copy of the whole series on multiple devices. It may be just a show about pastel ponies, but that show and its fans have changed my life, and I am eternally grateful.AI: [link]

And how important that book is. Β
When first looking through my copy of "My Little Pony: The Elements of Harmony: Friendship is Magic: The Official Guidebook" (colon is best punctuation), I thought it was really cool that it resembles the book from the show that's Gadget here is holding. Β It was also pretty cool that the first few pages have the same illustrated story as the book in the show does. Β Looking through the book for the first time gave me chills, and I wasn't sure why until just now. Β
It's no surprise, really. Β You explained perfectly the significance of "The Elements of Harmony". Β It sets the stage and becomes the cornerstone of the show and the lives of the ponies we so cherish. Β It tells the story of the beginning of their world as they know it -- and acted as the portal from our world to theirs at 10am (EST) on October 10, 2010. Β
No wonder this book has a special place in some of our hearts. Β

But anyway, I'm rather disappointed that we didn't get to see his vision for that episode. I feel like that idea could have worked so well, even if it had to be modified a bit to make it not be the series finale. Β Of course, we don't know why these decisions were made, and the changes made certainly helped to lead up to a pretty awesome season 4 premiere, so who can complain
I still hope that, once the series has run its course, they include the Elements of Harmony book somehow in the finale. Β Big part or small, it LITERALLY opened the show, so it should be there at the end. Β

When the book closed, for me, it was a laser-guided feels strike right to my heart. Of course, we always expected it, but actually seeing it really drove home the fact that it was over.
MLP really defined the last seven years of my life, and I'm going to miss watching new episodes with everyone, talking about them all week, and sorting through the massive flood of amazing art and videos. Of course, I agree that it could never go on forever, and trying to drag the show out would have ended in a slow, sad, Simpsons-like decline. This way, our beloved ponies got the endings we always wanted for them, and we can cherish the memories we made along the way. Personally, I've been saving and recording hundreds of gigabytes of pony content so I can live it all again whenever I get nostalgic.
Of course, the fandom isn't going anywhere, and neither am I. I'll be right here waiting for G5, and I hope to see you and the rest of my pony friends on the other side of the hiatus. The next generation of fans will need people like you.

I can understand him regretting having done it with incomplete knowledge about the future of the show, but I think they really made the best of it, and it really opened up amazing new stories for the later seasons. Or maybe it's just because Twilight is best pony.

You're right, not too much new there, but it is so interesting how he tells the story almost exactlyΒ the same way both times (had to go back and rewatch the previous video you liked, because, like a year). "Good luck, Megan!" But yeah, really interesting to hear about that episode and what happened surrounding it. Definitely still hope that that book closes the show!
But you're absolutely right, regardless of the exact specifics of that episode, I'm glad we had "The Wing-ening". It really took the show in some awesome new directions, what with Twilight now having a pupil and the Mane 6 travelling all over Equestria. It seems like Twilight actually has a task befitting her power and importance now.
Also... wow, yeah, this is super weird to be chatting about this again almost precisely a year later! I guess it's a timeless conversation topic. You didn't happen to attend BC2016, did you? (I'm almost hoping you didn't, because if you did that would mean that I had the chance to meet you in person and missed out on it, lol!)

I Agree. It has become to such a standard that well it becomes something of a life changer. It certainly helped me in my life, which really you say it to someone and they just go wtf? It's sounds strange and I admit it, but even if it does, I won't disagree with it.
