Description Death and the Maiden

2012
Metallic Gel Pen on Illustration Board

“Where is the future?
What is my path?

Never to forget my mortality
Never to forget my past

I create
Love
A conquer
Yet never to see
My name

Beauty fades to dust
Consciousness bends
To oblivion

Will I be reborn
Will I be rewarded
Will I be damned
Will I just cease?”

This and actually, all of your works I have seen so far, is beautiful. Fascinating the stories they tell. So any new visions for this maiden as of today? I suppose this is a challenge many of us face.
Death has such a loving touch to her shoulder and hair...almost as if it wishes to take her with it.

Thanks Rachel

One of these days I would like to explore some themes that I have already done in the past, and that includes "Death and the Maiden". At present, there are still so many new ideas and visions to bring to life, that I have yet to return to my old subjects

I have always rendered the image of death that is both frightening (as being the unknown and the fear of being finite) and very beautiful (as a herald to a new life and the end of present suffering). We tend to fear death, when in truth we fear what we have not yet achieved in life. Those who accept death, without being suicidal, understand what living is all about. And that includes a sense of purpose, matched with a humble value of self.

This in one of my bigger works . . . and putting all that detail was a test of time management

Thanks

This is another one of my works which I have had the inspiration / vision long before (a year to be exact), but could come to grips on how to actualize the image . . . I just couldn't stand drawing the typical Grim Reaper, which never resonated to me as a personification of death

I wouldn't imagine the reaper would be a creepy hooded skeleton man either.

Death here looks amazing, makes me wonder of many things.
Favorite detail most likely is the black lantern it carries.

Thank you Zel

After finishing this piece, I scanned and then uploaded it . . . forgetting how much detail I did put in this work, even forgetting that I did put a lamp in it the floral style I use is called 'ukkil' among the Tausug people in the Philippines

Thank you my friend

I had already had conceived to do the work "Death and the Maiden" since last year, but I could come to draw the typical Grim Reaper . . . the image of that as Death didn't resonate to me

I am glad you like this final outcome
