The entire scene is adorable to me.  It's sad when children are shunned for something that isn't their fault, so I love the fact that this woman loves the child anyways.  The child (Lucio?) looks upon her with trepidation, like he's scared to let her in, and she just showers him with unconditional love, simply because he's a child and he needs it.  I love the concept of it all, and it makes me feel all warm inside, thus, it's absolutely adorable~!  *^_^*

That did make sense! ^_^ In fact, I'm glad that someone finally saw the message that I tried to convey through this picture. It was a big step for both of them, and I, too, love the concept so much that I put this artwork on my front page since I made it, even though I know there's a lot I could fix on this ^_^ Maybe one day when my skill had improved considerably, I will remake this artwork to make it look better.

These two are my main and my favorite mindbabies to date, so it means a lot to hear nice things spoken about them~~ And I needed tons of trial(s) and error(s) to get that pose right, so thanks for appreciating it ahahah Now that somebody mentioned it, I need to get writing. Glad to know you like the story bit too~ Compliments about my writing/style double boosted my self-esteem because I'm half as confident of my writing skill as I am on my drawing skill (and even that, I know I need to work on A LOT of skills drawing-wise).

I really love his design, especially the sunken in eyes and beautiful long ears.

If you have all of that story hidden somewhere on the internet or computer,

to see how much Lucio's life changes when he is living with Adeline!

Lol~ I don't know about weird (Lucio's my baby after all so I gotta be weirder for creating him in the first place) but the little guy would be so happy to hear he's liked xD Not that you can see it from his face, though. I'm just glad he's mesmerizing in a good way. And you can draw him of course! I'm always happy to see someone drawing my mindchildren, him especially.

Wow, that flatters me so much! I have that story, but it's not yet translated into English (yeaahh, you probably can guess that English isn't my first language?), just stashed in my computer waiting to be finished. It's just that my annoying college/work/chores schedule forced me to abandon it. Been a while now. But you just sparked new motivations in me. I'll get writing tonight, and will translate it bit by bit once I get to chapter 10. Maybe I'll do Lucio's chapter first instead of doing in order.

Nope, it's actually my third. It's not so easy for me to write in formal English (the closest to Victorian English I can do), which was why it takes me quite a while to write that excerpt you just read. I mean, casual English is fine, it's cool, but you don't use casual English in Adeline and Lucio's time. Soo yep. As for where I'm from...I doubt you know. It's SO in the middle of nowhere. Most people here don't even speak English, sadly. Haha...yeah...well, since not many knows, I figured I'd just put it as unknown up there. What about yourself? Is English your first language?

Thanks for the motivation boost~ I'll do my best.

The story was set in a nonexistent country that I based off of several countries in their Victorian/Romantic era, and Lucio himself was from some tiny village a little far from the urban area of the country. That village was very much backward, see, its only source of medical, religious, and educational information and help came from the local witchdoctor (shaman?) who fortunately didn't abuse his power that much. Lucio's family was normal, well, poor but normal, so they were scared when Lucio was born with goat ears and yellow eyes. All his other family members has normal, dull blue eyes and human ears. And none of them were blond.

They though he was possessed by demons, so they asked the witchdoctor to help "cure" him and pushing the demons away. The witchdoctor did lots of things that was believed to be able to scare demons from possessing ones body, from the mildest ones such as burning incense for the possessed to inhale, to the more violent ones.

Now the violent ones. They -were- violent. One of them included an attempt to gauge one of Lucio's eyes out. The witchdoctor and the parents were scared when they saw Lucio's eyes and nails glowed yellowy green in the dark (for safety purposes they always practiced the "treatment" when there's still light). It was strongly believed in that village that the eyes of a possessed person were used by the demons possessing them to corrupt other people so the demons can gather several vessels at once. You can imagine what impression would a pair of yellow colored pupil-less eyes make on superstitious Victorian villagers, can't you?

So there.

Adeline interrupted the whole ceremony-witchdoctoring-whatever-thing before it was completed and brought the little guy with her, so even though Lucio can't use his left eye anymore, at least both eyes are still there. It's sort of a good thing, no? Lucio had no demonic powers, though. None. He had no powers whatsoever. Just a kid with strange appearance and extremely low self-esteem.
