The detail and color tones in this are brilliant. I love the juxtaposition of the clarity and sparkle of the eye with the muddy mess all over his face.

I adore this shot; firstly for the mud - nothing quite so fun
But also because, for all that this is about youth, there is something in the line of his mouth, and the look in his eye that belie that terrible move towards maturity...perhaps it wasn't intentional, but I think it makes the image even more powerful as a conceptual piece - youth slipping away like sand.
Thankyou for sharing, you have real talent with photography - not only with the techinical pointing and shooting, but with the thought and ideas behind the actual camera-work

Aw bless him, how old is he? It'd be interesting to know - children are such unsual creatures; there's often a depth to them that most people don't pay much attention to. But I'm glad that this was the outcome you were going for, I was worried my comment would come off as too..I don't know - pretentious?
I certainly hope he earned some sweets or something for putting up with all that
