That is actually a really tough decision as both have such different approaches to the characters, especially where Sherlock is concerned. One portrays him as eccentric, and the other makes him a straight-up sociopath.

I really can't choose between them.

Of course, if they have one thing in common, they both love their Watsons.

Can't go wrong with Martin Freeman... Doesn't matter if I have fantasies 'bout him, even if he's the same age as my mum... He.. Is the epitome... Of.. Humanity... *-*

I just think RDJ's Holmes was an action actor, like he is. and Benedict is really an ACTOR, I could believe him easily. Jude Law was a convincing Watson in my book too.

Oh, Benedict without a doubt. RDJ does a great job, but Benedict has this... I don't know how to describe it, but I could just believe that he's really Sherlock.

Besides, that look of pure joy when there's a new case is just....

I only just got the chance to see Sherlock on BBC. Up until now I was a die hard fan of RDJ but Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman make such amazing Holmes and Watson that they are now my fav. I love this drawing!!

Hanachino-Hime In reply to LaLunatique [2012-08-20 19:10:36 +0000 UTC]

RDJ isn't the classical Holmes, but he is very charismatic and entertaining. Jeremy Brett...I love all the details he puts in his acting, like all the movements he does with his hands, and his expressions like when he raises his eye-brows dramatically, his soothing voice, everything.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaLunatique In reply to Hanachino-Hime [2012-08-20 19:13:20 +0000 UTC]

ha ha ha, you are very observant. I think exactly the same. For me, Brett IS the real Holmes.
While RDJ does a more funny/action version of Holmes. I like both. But Brett really is the master.

iamtysha In reply to LaLunatique [2012-08-18 14:43:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes he is. While Benny is...well...Benny, I think RDJ pulled off Sherlock a bit better. He's used to being a smartass, I guess, playing Tony Stark for so long. xD

You are so right. Well, I really like the action-style of RDJ. And the humour he gives to his character.

BBC Sherlock. But I think no one has still portrayed how A. C. Doyle described Sherlock Holmes in his books perfectly. I'm still looking for that "something".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaLunatique In reply to LucyRising [2012-08-10 14:04:03 +0000 UTC]

Jeremy Brett is for me the classical Sherlock Holmes.

Capricious-Spider [2012-08-06 17:18:43 +0000 UTC]

I think I like Benedict more as Holmes, mostly because while I know Downey Jr. is certainly a talented man, his... -ness always seems to throw me off.

PLEASE don't make me choose between Watsons. OTL I like each of them for different reasons; they played it straight with Law's "Tall, thin army guy" and I love Freeman's "Intelligent, yet eager guy". Plus, Martin's made of kittens. He's so CUTE. I mean, both of them are cute but Martin's CUTE.

Awesome!
I haven't seen the first guy play Sherlock Holmes. Is it movie or a TV program?
The first Sherlock Holmes I saw was played by Robert Downey Jr. and I totally fell for him and he is seriously one of the most tallented actors ever.
So I don't think there is any point in me watching the other one...
Hmm... Or maybe I should give it a try? Is it good?

To be honest with you, all the Sherlock series/movies have their good points, and their bad points. I really enjoyed to watch them all

- BBC Sherlock ---) is very interesting and refreshing. Lots of humour and very good actors.

- Garanda Sherlock ---) was a classic and the main actor is certainly one of the best to portray the original Sherlock from the books.

- Guy Ritchy ---) Jude and Robert really give a new style to Sherlock Holmes adventures... and they are awesome together.

I think it worth to at least watch the BBC series. It's short and very entertaining

Cumberbatch. I never imagined Sherlock as being quite as muscular as the other.
