I've been in a very demonic mood lately with the recent crop of images I've been posting. I was never really into demonic imagery but now that I have a taste for it I absolutely love it! Taken from the pages of APOCRYPHA , is a line illustration entitled "Within Reach". It's my interpretation of "Death" but instead of harvesting souls with a scythe he instead has multiple hands all within reaching distance of those ready to cross over.Related content

Death is usually portrayed holding a scythe and wears a black robe with a hood. You went far beyond the stereotype and got rid of the scythe all together and made Death a far more interesting and fascinating character. The many hands add depth to his character and make the design far from boring. Also the horns added to deaths typical skull head have a more demonic feel as well as makes the design more appealing.
There is a lot to look at in this picture. This picture has secondary and tertiary action which makes this piece exciting and dramatic.
The colour palette that you chose is perfect for this dark fantasy image. The purple hues add the sense of darkness and evil as well as power which suit the theme of death very well. The minimal use of beige, brown and red keep the image from taking on a monochromatic look as well as add a greater focal point. They don't contrast too much either or take away from the mood.
Overall the concept was creative, innovative and was executed with great skill.

Wow, this is so emotive and beautifully executed. I simply love all the little details, especially on his skull. It made me feel a little uncomfortable watching this, since he looks like he's not exactly comfortable either. It almost made me feel a bit sorry for him. Great piece!

Thank you very much! I tried my best to convey some feeling of Death being a tortured spirit. It has to be a lot of hard work harvesting souls.
