Yeah, THIS sequence ain't done yet. ^^ Got (at least) one more after this we hope you folks'll enjoy.
I'm less bothered by this than I probably should be. I mean, I get that it's dark but doesn't quite click with me so much. Hell, Annakatan was half-convinced I'd say no, but doesn't bother me so much. I guess in general it's easy for me to be detached from commissions emotionally. Not always, some I genuinely want to do, some I genuinely don't want to do but am a whore, but for the most part including this one it's easy to just try and be cute and be quick.
And it helps I don't read Yotsuba, I guess. So yeah, Koiwai's had his brain broken. Hooray!
Oh, the My Little Pony dialog was sorta last-minute. Heck, a lot of dialog in these comics is pretty much up to me; I guess folks like what I come up with 'cause more than a few people just give me beats of things to say "Sort of like this" and just let me think up the specifics. ^^ Here I just tried to recall a specific exchange from an episode and typed the first one to go to my head. Weird thing is that exchange is from The Last Round-Up and it's not the one line we all remember. You know the one.
Martin's Comments: Of course, the bit everybody remembers from that episode is the I Love Lucy reference. That or maybe they remember it for it leading to the existence of Gypsy Bard.
We miss you, Raincloud.
Anyway, yeah, the choice to go black and white on this one... Kind of a mix of reasons. Part of it was I thought it might be a little easier (which it really isn't since you have to pay a lot more attention to what colors go where), part of it was for artistic effect, part of it was as kind of a nod toward the manga. Either way like how the effect ended up working out.
Made us think we should do another black and white sequence in our comics at some point. Been a long while since the last one we did, which was in , and the art's improved a lot since then. Though I'd still go read it, along with !
