This is without the cruddy background. The color is a bit better on this one as well.And I forgot to say before, this was done with markers (again) copics and prismacolors.

Yeah.. And yeah, they are good. Through Wolf's Eyes by Jane Lindskold is the first book in the quartet. I love them... I think I might just have to go read them again after I finish re-reading #1-3 of The Kiesha'Ra by Amelia Atwater Rhodes. Another good fantasy story, if you're into magic and shapeshifting...

I actually kind of like this better without a background, with the soft blues on the horizon. It's somewhat more calming, and brings all of the focus into the foreground and the characters.
