I have recently finished this commission; it's been done for an artbook about Chinese Zodiacs. The goal was to paint a portrait with a symbol of the Chinese Astrology.

I chose to depict the Rooster zodiac, as a black/metis woman. The reason why is that the rooster is the symbol of France, and at the time I was thinking about my painting, I was feeling very sick and tired of all the racism and xenophobia I was seeing around me. I was angry that many "white French citizens" etc were looking down on "foreigner-looking" people, thus being discriminated, even though most of them have the right to be as proudly citizens of our country as we are.
