Much like the ex-C&O F-17s, the Northern Region of the MF&SC was suffering a motive power defecit too, though this time it was in the 1960s are opposed to F-17's purchase in the late 40's, early 50's.

Some of the engines bought were old former Canadian Pacific 4-6-2s. 20 Engines were bought and renumbered from 2330-2350 and operated between North and Western Regions.
