Description The g in Lyngen is softened roughly into y from the English "yes".
The name of the mountain range is pronounced roughly as "lynn-yen".

The iconic mountains of Lyngsfjellan, and as if there can be no better weather to feel their power and beauty. I love these heavy northern stormclouds.

View from the coast of Kjosen (Isfjord) at Tytebærneset, south across the fjord stretch.
Kjosen or Isfjord as we call it, is a branch of Ullsfjorden, between the two parts of Lyngen.

On the right is Fornesfjellet, one of the major mountains on the southern coast.
The part on the right that is only halfway visible, is Litle Fornestinden (1 050 m).
The towering one behind it, touching the clouds, is Store Fornestinden (1 477 m).
On the left is the next major mountain - Fortholtfjellet.
The white patch in the fold between is a small glacier. Many of them huddle in these mountains.
The peak Fortholtfjellet (1 467 m) itself is the whiter one behind, that appears lower.
The cliffy pyramid one that appears much highter on the front is Fortholttinden (1 469 m).
The even cliffier dark mountain further left is Rødbergtinden (1 320 m).
