Description Ultra Fractal 5.01

Playing around with the Rose Range Light formula.

Osseous means bone. The lines sort of look like the ribs of a spiral structure.

Kat you make such elegant shapes. It's wonderful and I love the red eyecatchers that make the vines look lively in front of the calm brown background.

RRL in the right hands is elegant, and you have done dem bones proud! The textures are a delight, and the contrast of the browns and reds is becoming a favorite of mine

In a way, I can kind of understand what *dimitriskats meant about the background color, but I don't see how you could've done anything differently. Anything lighter & your "bone" structure basically would've bled into it... yes ?

You really need the contrasting colors & those browns are the perfect foil for the red spheres too. And you can see where the faint texture on the bones does complement, in fact almost matches the background textures.

I mean personally I'd rather the browns were lighter, for my personal taste, I just don't see it here.

Exactly how I felt about the background, too.

Ah, great! Something I can really rib you about at last! Hee hee!

I'll make no bones about it, Kat, this is nice. Love the red orbs popping up like that, like droplets of blood, and the old, bleached look to the bone structures.

Taking a skeleton of an idea and refusing to add flesh to it is... a very bad joke by me so I'll stop the awful wordplay, get my coat and leave now...

Thanks, Chris!

I like the repetition and the way the red spheres are so neatly lined up in the structure.

No, not a bad joke.

At least, I found it rather humerus.

Great work with this structure and RRL! The background fascinates me: it looks organic, slightly spongy, as if it's decomposing which probably fits well with the bones ....

Did I say great work with this structure & RRL? I'm particularly impressed because I have a similar structure in my WIP folder ... and after seeing what you've done, it's going to stay there!

Oh...and BTW: This is because of your last fractal. When you post one of your fabulous RRL images, I always get inspired to go back and play with the formula.

LaPurr In reply to WelshWench [2008-10-23 22:33:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Gill

The thing about this structure is that the original shape was larger/wider. I separated the magnitude layer with color for applying texture to different areas. While seeing what the masked area looked like alone, I saw this. I liked it.

Background is SFBM II textures, both regular and mapped. I love that ucl.

WelshWench In reply to LaPurr [2008-10-24 21:56:55 +0000 UTC]

I love SFBM II too And I'm increasingly using mapping (whether on that or other ucls) to create textures. I like it, I might take a stab at doing something that's almost entirely texture.

dimitriskats [2008-10-23 13:27:39 +0000 UTC]

I think the background layer(s) darkens the image
and doesn't help the main structure which is very interesting.

LaPurr In reply to dimitriskats [2008-10-23 17:16:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for taking a look and for the comment.

The main structure doesn't stand out as much against a background lighter than this one. I almost went even darker.
