Optimus Prime had been within his claws, mere inches from death…when Starscream royally slagged it all up. No one could quite mess up a plan like his 'favourite' second in command, especially when given specific orders which were supposed to prevent such a catastrophe.

Now the infuriating Autobots had escaped, his own territory was burning and Starscream was cowering in the hopes that he would be forgiven.

Unlikely, considering the damage done to their hunting grounds was all Starscream's fault.

Megatron pounced at the whimpering menace, snarling as he threw the other dragon to the ground and pinned him there. His claws threatened to pierce through the scales, sharp fangs bared.

"M-master, I did not mean-"

"SILENCE!" Megatron roared over the noise of the flames. They were out of control, growing closer by the minute. Dragons were impervious to fire to a certain extent but only for a short period of time. If they stayed much longer, they'd likely suffocate from the noxious smoke first. "I gave you a simple order, one simple order, and you disobeyed me. My lands are ruined because of you!"

"I simply wished to-" Starscream was cut off, his words becoming a strangled squeal as Megatron's paw came down on his throat. Unable to speak or breathe, he was forced to listen.

"You have made a fool of me Starscream." He growled, ignoring the way one of Starscream's paws ineffectually scrabbled at his chest. He was far more in interested in the growing panic he could see in Starscream's red eyes. Keeping one paw firmly around Starscream's neck the warlord dug the claws of the other into the thin membrane of Starscream's wing.

The terrified whimper and shaking it drew made Megatron snarl in triumph. "There is a lesson here Starscream. Obey me…" The claws retreated briefly, the touch becoming a gentle pet at the wing. "And you will be treated as the best of my warriors should be. However…" The claws were digging into the wing again, the smaller dragon making a choked cry of pain when they pierced the wing adding to the damage already there from battle. "…And I will make you wish you had never crossed me." Megatron snarled. "The next time, I will shred your wings to pieces, is that clear?"

There was terror in those eyes when Starscream nodded his head frantically, desperate to be out from under his master.

Megatron let him up, Starscream cowering even when he did stand. He didn't meet Megatron's eyes, waiting until his leader took to the skies before he dared even raise his wings.

Megatron knew better than to think Starscream had entirely learned his lesson. Still, perhaps the threat of being temporarily grounded would keep him in line for the time being. He needed at least one plan to go off without a hitch. He needed that Prime dead.

If Starscream got in his way next time, perhaps it would simply be easier to remove him than keep such a risk around. Something to consider, he thought.
