I had a look through his work and can see some similar themes but his work feels much darker than my own I think. I'm very flattered that you should compare me to such a wonderful artist

Not really, why do you refer to it as shit? Do you find it ugly, disturbing? I'm curious, I've never had my work referred to as shit. It's a stronger response than I've previously experienced and considering the subject of this piece I wondered if it brought up any particular feelings for yourself. It's about childhood experiences and how they influence the shape of our psyche and remain in our unconscious. There are some dark things there but also light, like flowers, lace etc. It was intended to be surreal but I don't think surreal is necessarily dark, perhaps you think it is What does D8 mean?

It makes me very uncomfortable and uneasy. I think it's great. Only great art/poetry can make you feel uncomfortable/uneasy... And without even being that dark...

I'm very flattered by all that you have said about this piece. It really seems to have impacted the way I intended, with you at least. Often my work is based on reaching out to the unconscious of the viewer and what you have said makes me feel as though I succeeded in this piece. To refer to my art as great is a true compliment.
