Description Ok, well I never have good titles ^^' This is watercolor with ink drawing.

Thank you `snowmask For the super helpful watercolor tips!

I'm super proud of this! It's my first real legit try at watercolors! Plus drawing things straight from references is awfully hard when you aren't making the bubble forms (for me at least) . But darn It turned out alright :3

the textures were made with splatter and alcohol

I'm working on the pouring technique too! It's just taking a little longer to get used to

the ref I used is a book I own about wolf life. very interesting book! It's called "The Spirit of the Wolf" Wolves are much smarter than you'd think! very fun book

Edit: OLD OLD OLD.

How did you use alcohol in this? I love the splatters!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaraMuk In reply to fiyapheonix [2011-10-01 21:00:31 +0000 UTC]

thanks! when you put alcohol on wet watercolors, it pushes the paint away from the center those blotches above the wolf and in other areas were from alcohol pushing the watercolor paint away

That's interesting.. I've always used salt for that, I didn't know alcohol would do the same thing...

LaraMuk In reply to fiyapheonix [2011-10-01 21:25:10 +0000 UTC]

alcohol and salt make different textures XD it really depends on what you're going for they dont make the same texture

Very beautiful work! I like that wolf is transparent and the way it is being faded out to the bottom of the picture is really well made. What I dont really understand whether the small wolf at the left corner is a part of he watermark or part of the picture. For me it looks like a watermark, because it stands out the same way as letters so. Yet Im not sure since the big jumping wolf seems to look at the small one. It makes the picture a bit confusing. Other that that, I dont have any critiques or suggestions to add. I like the colors You used. They make Your picture look spiritual somehow..

LaraMuk In reply to Saraty [2011-05-03 15:09:33 +0000 UTC]

thanks a bunch for the feedback! the creature in the corner is part of the watermark sorry for the confusion XD

I'm sorry, but this is going to be a bit shorter than I had originally planned - I wasn't expecting to come back this evening with 24 pieces to comment on!

First of all, I love the colours. You've chosen them perfectly to fit your title (or your title perfectly to fit your colours ). The use of spattering adds to the wolf's movement, and to the general mysticism of the piece. You've also captured the wolf pretty much anatomically perfectly - so nothing bad to say there. You've got the flow of its fur just right. Great job!

LaraMuk In reply to WebbyToes [2011-05-01 03:25:57 +0000 UTC]

our teacher wants us to do an accordion book. and she really liked the story i wrote for my zine so she wanted me to do another story. so i am illustrating that wolf story that i wrote for my high school eng class. you remember that right? . so i wanted it to have a spiritual feel to it and im practicing and devoloping an idea for the illustrations. Glenn still thinks i should publish that old thing lol. Im debating on it.

WebbyToes In reply to LaraMuk [2011-05-03 01:13:51 +0000 UTC]

Wait... if she liked how come she made you do another story?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaraMuk In reply to WebbyToes [2011-05-03 15:21:21 +0000 UTC]

heh? no she liked the zine. the bathtub kid playin with his toys. but she thinks this plan is "generic." something yatta yatta about how wolf and spiritual is a givin and how everybody does it. she didn't even bother realizing the way i did it was different than most stuff on the internet. (she pulled up a typical wolf howling at moon image as an example, but it looked nothing like what i had on the paper in front of her) and she didn't even bother reading the damn story before telling me just, "oh wolves and spiritual, mm yah...." she didn't care that my accordion book wasn't just gonna be a jumble of them either but illustrated. seriously. the story is a bit deeper than just "wolves and spiritual are like peanut butter and jelly." so whatever. she's rainin on my parade a bit but screw it. I'll do them my way in my own time and make something else for the project :/ I haven't liked the class from the beginning anyway lol didn't think that would change at the last minute. I especially hated the stupid envelope project. HATED IT. i hated half the shit she made us do :/ I only liked multiples, and maybe the tissue paper project. but everything else made me really mad and I hate making purely formal abstract art. It drives me into a killing frenzy :/

*rant over*

What was the envelope thing? I don't rememberit at all. Oh yeah and eventually I want the newspaper thing cos I think it would be cool to get it framed. Obviously I don't have moolah for it now, but if I get my own place I wanna frame it and put it up.
