Goddamn, that texture is fabulous. It really looks like the skin of her upper face has been flayed away, revealing the macabre truth beneath.

Thanks, Rachael! I did that for contrast of mood as well as texture. You nailed it- the skin is the mask.

I particularly enjoy your inclusion of textures in the actual portrait on this one. I also find it a strange dichotomy - her upper face has all the anger/snarl wrinkles I would expect with that expression, but her lower face, much more masklike, shows almost none.
