Description History is written by the victors, and this is just as true for comics. For many years Superman was being outsold by this guy above Captain Marvel aka Captain Thunder. He was everything you wanted. He had a group of powers that didn't change, Billy Batson shouted SHAZAM and a bolt of lightning came down from the sky and boom, he was a hero. His sister and a friend also become heroes, so that predates Spidey by two decades. He had a distinct group of villains only rivaled with Batman's, Mr. Mind, Ibac, Captain Nazi, Dr. Sivana, Mr. Atom, Black Adam, not to mention The Seven Deadly Enemies of Man(aka Seven Deadly Sins) suck on that Superman, you had some crooked businessmen and mad scientist Lex Luthor.

Well the fun train ended in the early 50's when Fawcett went under thanks to National Comics(DC's) lawsuits, that Captain Marvel is no more, but still lives on in the hearts of those that know about him.

I always preferred Captain Marvel over Superman, although I like Superman too. I'm particularly pissed off with the New 52 as they renamed him to Shazam.

I like both, though Superman I prefer less powered and not so godlike. I also hate that they call Captain Marvel, Shazam now, that's stupid. If it can't be Captain Marvel, I'd rather like Captain Thunder which makes more sense and has a precedent.

Yeah. My favorite Superman arc is his (now old) new concept by John Byrne, specially the Man of Steel reboot back in the 80s.

It's a good book, though a favorite of mine is "Superman: For All Seasons". Beautifully done.

I remember when it was launched here in Brazil and I didn't acquire it, so I never read it. But I remember Tim Sale art was quite fine.

It's a great book if you can get your hands on it. Though now with stuff like Comixology you may be able to read it at a really decent price.

I won't forget him.  Surely if enough people remember, he can never die.

Exactly, that's what I try to do. If he isn't Captain Marvel, I will just gladly call him Captain Thunder. Which makes so much more sense than Shazam. He can't even say his damned name.

I think the problem with Captain Marvel, is the feeling that he's a strange body in a universe with Superman!
I would like to see him in the MU, it could work (as long as Miracleman stays out of the picture, of course).

Well I'd love to see Captain Marvel go over to Boom Studios, they'd treat him right.
