Description I got tired from standing around and wanted to relax and have my drink so i decided to sit down. Even then people still wanted to take my pic XD I told them i don't mind as long as I can sit while doing so. As lazy of me as it was, it turned out quite cute!

If this is your photo please let me know so i can credit you

That is a seriously awesome fursuit, from his head to his feet. I've always had a fascination with footpaws so I appreciate the bonus of the grippy pads. Very nice work - the whole thing .

Yeah, I thought that was a bit of a bummer because it really took me away from the mythos of the character, but not too far. I chose to ignore it and appreciate the work, patience and talent that went into building it. Also I found the pictures you were talking about and saw two slightly different views of how they looked before they were worn. Next time might I suggest making sandals out of those foam pads people use for gardening and a few dog leashes? With soles as nice as those, you'd want to protect them when you took them outside. As it is the fur should clean up well, at least I'd think so, then when you restore them work out a way to keep them safe in the form of some sandal-type design. Just a few thoughts from a fursuit/footpaw fan .

This was my second everΒ  fursuit and i still didn't really know what i was doing. I just new fabric on the ground was too slippery so i wanted to get some grip in there, and the only thing that came to mind were slipper grips. And to make it less blah i put them in a pawpad kind of look in case of moments like this were i'd be showing the bottoms of my feet ^_^' Now I use floor mats so no more human prints show through I'm still learning and always looking for new ways to improve myself

I certainly wish you a fruitful and fulfilling fursuiting career and I hope it's loaded with moments that give you a chance for improvement. As a side note, I have always had genuine appreciation for suiters who pay attention to every detail and are prepared, as you said, for moments when certain parts of their suits are going to show. Because the bottoms of one's feet aren't seen as much as the rest of the suit, some people simply slap on a dull, flat rubber sole and leave it at that. That you went the extra mile to make them interesting should they be seen, and I think they should always be seen, shows how much you care about your art and that you're willing to do what needs to be done. Or am I reading too much into this?

Thank you so much you are very kind and it was heartwarming to read your comment!

And you're not reading too much into it XD that's pretty much how I feel about it too! I try to cover as much detail as I can with my current skills to look as presentable as possible. I go so far as taking a needle and going over ALL of me seams (even not really seen ones) to fluff out any fur so that it looks as seamless as possible. I like going the extra mile because I find it looks so much better in the end

You're very welcome and I'm happy that my constructive comments have struck a pleasing chord in you . I'm glad that I wasn't overreaching there and to know that you care about your art well enough to do it well, the very best you can, is comforting. To see people, in any artistic discipline, selling out and doing what they do just because of the money or the fame and not the integrity of their work is depressing, but it's great to know there are still artists out there who are real and want it to show in their work. And yes, going that extra mile to do things like ensure the illusion of seamlessness testify to that .

I see it this way: I do this for me. I want it to look nice for me. If people follow me on any media then cool! I'm glad people like it! But i dont' share for share or slap my pictures of my costume on several facebook pages to get more like or go out of my way for popularity or fame. I like doing what I do and I do it for me. Everything else is always a bonus!

I know I don't have to tell you this, but that's a very empowered and confident outlook. Do what you love to do first because you love to do it, second because people might like it and third because you might make money or get famous on it.

I go for #1 and #2. I feel like, if for some reason i got super popular and got commissions and such, i would get burnt out of working on these costumes. I love it as a hobby, not a job or a chore XD I wouldn't mind taking on some projects to make a bit of money on the side, but i see people who take on costume after costume and rarely have time for their own project! I don't think i could handle that XD

fuzzyslipperlogic In reply to Lasiral [2016-01-16 22:59:56 +0000 UTC]

It certainly makes sense to me. If you do something out of a raw passion for it, the last thing you'd want would be for it to turn into an obligation. If you wanted to take on outside projects, you could simply say that there are limited slots and pace them out every so often. You can simply say you have other commitments but that you'd be glad to do outside work when you were darn good and ready. I'm not certain how long it takes to do a quality fursuit, but I think if you limited yourself to one commission a month, that might be enough to make it worth it.

Ya last time i opened up for commissions no one took up on it, but i've had some people asking me more and more recently. So we'll see what the future holds.

It's I'm trying to make a guillmon cosplay as you can see on my Account and I'm trying to figure out how to make the arms and feet and I have made the head too big sadly :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lasiral In reply to Orangeflair [2015-07-29 20:21:54 +0000 UTC]

What i'd suggest to start is to take a picture of yourself from the front and one picture of from the side. Then you have a few options: 1. bring it up in photoshop or some sort of program where you can make a layer to draw on top of it to form guilmon to your body or 2. Print out the picture and use a pencil to draw it out on top of the picture. This way you can see how your body can fit into Guilmon. This way you wont end up with an oversized head. This way you can plan out how big the arms are, how you want to do the feet, ect.

For the arms, I just used two 2 inch foam pieces in like an oval shape. Before gluing them together, I carved out a space for my arm to rest in.

For the feet, you can search on "how to make fursuit feet" on youtube and many videos will pop up. Look for something that seems like an easy enough method that suits your need.

My wip shots of Guilmon's head can be found here (its in backwards order, so start from the last page) s1117.photobucket.com/user/las…

WIP shots of the body of my Guilmon can be found here (also in backwards order) s1117.photobucket.com/user/las…

Hope that helps

what kind of material did you use to make his skin? cause im trying to do a Shoutmon cosplay, and i dont know which material i shuld use... could you help me?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lasiral In reply to ShoutmonTM [2013-02-21 00:04:00 +0000 UTC]

I can't remember the name of the material exactly, but it's something along the lines of a sports fleece. It's a little fuzzy but very light. On top of that, when you sweat (because sadly it's inevitable XD) it won't make cause sweat patches or anything. It also has a nice stretch so it's easy to work with. Hopefully that helps. If you need the exact name of this fabric and what exactly its made of, i can make a trip to the store and find that out for you

OH, I actually forgot to also ask about his feet: what kind of material did u make(or buy) to make it,like... resistance but at the same time soft? if u could tell me this would really help...(sorry for asking again )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lasiral In reply to ShoutmonTM [2013-03-06 23:55:35 +0000 UTC]

No problem. I used a regular shoe and shaped it with foam. Used a duct tape pattern to cut out my fabric then sewed them together. I then made up my own "paw pad" shape (since he really has none) to add on the white part for grip. It's the same thing you would find on slippers with all the white rubber dots on it. I sewed that on and then just slipped it onto the foam/shoe and glued it into place. I never slipped, and they've held up for about 5-6 cons now and only now really need to be repaired. Just try to avoid puddles and such so the foam won't soak it up and potentially mold or anything.

For some WIP pic of how i made the feet along with other various body parts of guilmon, you can go here [link]

If you browse around there you can also see my album on how i made the head as well along with some other cosplays i have done. Hopefully that helps
