Description
This is part of a 35 illustration project in school in which I created this cards where a character described the species and the world they came from, the text is in spanish and I don´t have a good handwritting so don´t bother in trying to read it lol.I will be uploading the rest of the cards the following days and I really hope you guys like it, they´re kinda small (like 20x21 cm or something, I don´t remember well) and are made with ink, micron pens and coffee <3 they still retain some of the delicious coffee smell.
asked the text translation, I will try at least to give the general idea:
Dathomiri:
One of the hardest things in this mission is to land in places where you are aware you will not find support or good will and that is the case of Dathomir where I found something really impresive. The sect of the night sisters, witches dedicated to the study of the dark side of the force are involved in a succesful project of genetic selection which has created a new subspecies, born to the mix of the nightsisters and iridonian zabrak males that resulted in the Dathomirian. All the members of this subspecies are force-sensitive and have a natural inclination to the dark side of the force and to the use of violence.
The women tend to have white skin and horns are usually uncommon. Their eyes can be blue or red.
The males are similar to their fathers but you can tell them apart by the tattoo design they choose, male dathomirian tattoos are more similar to the sith aesthetic than the zabrak traditional tattoos.

I really don't get why they retconned Asajj Ventress from Rattaki to Dathomirian other than they wanted Dathomir to be featured, which they could have done in other ways. Also, how does just one gender get Zabrak features and why? Even among the fantastical evolutions of Star Wars aliens this makes no sense.
OK, rant over. Actual context your alien studies are very well drawn and detailed in both the info and the pencils on the drawings themselves.

I have the same issues than you! it just don´t have any sense, I think they did it just to make dathomirians cool and take advantage of zabrak´s popularity, and it´s difficult to make "pretty" female characters with zabrak´s features O_o just my thought.

I am really glad you liked it! now that I look them back I think there are some ways that I could re-do this project to make it more appealing visually and add some other species, maybe to make it a printing project? I like this kind of illustration a lot - I'm not the biggest fan of the Dathomiri/Ventress retcon, but this is still lovely. I simply view it as Rattataki illustration for my own canon

I agree with you, I don´t really like the species either but they´re important to the plot that´s why I decided to do it, I always thought of them as an overpowered zabraks but now that you mention it, Asajj is way more similar to a Rattaki than a zabrak or a nightsister so I will second your thought lol.

Very nice. The merging of the Zabrak and Dathomiri human species was an...odd choice for the Star Wars universe, I thought, but now that it's done it's cool to see things like this that further explore it. I really like the design of the two characters - different from anything we've seen in The Clone Wars, but they definitely fit into the Star Wars world. It looks like concept art. Could you translate the text on this one for me?

to tell the truth I am not a big fan of the Dathomiri species, I believe the zabraks alone are interesting enough without over-power them with super force-sensitive dark sided powers, but it´s a canon species and they´re important to the plot. I am really glad you liked the designs and of course, I will upload the description with the translation (or at least the general idea, my english is not good enough lol)
