"Isn't this exciting, Luna?" the former princess Celestia asked her younger, still-ruling sister. "I've ruled Equestria for centuries, and in all that time, neither of us have ever been to a rodeo! Applejack tells me they're quite exciting, seeing all those bold ponies wow the crowd!"

"Yes. It's... certainly an interesting change of pace," Princess Luna tentatively agreed. She was having a little trouble understanding the "country brogue" that so many of the residents of Appleloosa spoke with. It was a new feeling for an elegant Alicorn who spent most of her life in castles and classy locales.

Celestia, however, was too much of a ponies-pony to let the new surroundings dissuade her. It was a quality that Luna always envied fervently.

As the two sisters began searching for the rodeo grounds, Appleloosa's population was awestruck at the sight of two unbelievably beautiful Alicorns gracing their presence. Even though Luna invited her retired sister on a holiday, the attention was a bit overwhelming. It was especially true for the local studs; she didn't know how to explain to them that she was currently taken... She hoped Fang would suddenly appear, as he was best known for.

When Celestia and Luna arrived at the rodeo's arena, a deep voice was heard. "Whoa-oa-oa, WHOA!!!" The older of the two sisters looked ahead and saw a large, buff horse with a hat coming her way... desperately holding several apples in his hooves and sliding towards her on a banana peel!

"Aaah!" Celestia didn't see the stud coming until it was too late to jump out of the way. He collided with her, sending the two collapsing next to each other. A single apple was impaled on Celestia's large horn.

When their eyes met, the stallion quickly began apologizing. "Sorry! So sorry, ma'am! Ah swear, Ah dunno why that happens so often, but... Ah'm so sorry!"

Despite a souvenir fruit stuck to her horn like a ring to a person's finger, Celestia was so calm and collected. "Oh. Hahaha, it's no trouble. I'm not hurt at all! Accidents happen from time to time."

"Well, uh... They shouldn't happen at the rate that they do, Miss," the stallion lamented.

"Sister! Are you okay?!" Luna exclaimed with worry.

"I'm fine, Luna," Celestia quickly assured. "Don't worry."

Upon hearing the darker mare's name, the buck realized, "Wait. 'Luna?' Ya mean, PRINCESS Luna? She's yer sister, ya said???" He quietly gasped with surprise. "Then that must mean... that yer Princess Celestia! Aw, shucks... Now Ah KNOW Ah've made a big ol' mess! Big rodeo's about to start, and Ah end up crashin' muh clumsy self into none other than Princess Celestia. Awwwhhh!"

It was obvious the stallion was distraught over his unintended slapstick act.

"There, there, big guy," Celestia soothingly said. "Like I said, accidents happen."

"Well... Fruit fails aside," the stud continued, "Ah'm glad Ah got to meet you two, yer highness. Muh name's Troubleshoes."

"A pleasure, Troubleshoes," Celestia greeted. "But... I think it's worth mentioning that I'm no longer a Princess."

"Uh... Pardon...?" Troubleshoes asked following a double-take.

Luna stepped in. "It is true, Troubleshoes. Celestia no longer rules Equestria. That role now falls on me, Princess Cadance, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and Princess Sunset Shimmer. I accept her decision... though I admit, it is not the same sometimes..."

"Yes," Celestia confirmed. "So, just plain 'Celestia' will do."

Troubleshoes was quick on the uptake. "Sure, Princ-- er, Celestia. So... what brings you two gorgeous mares to ol' Appleloosa?"

"Oh! Luna and I were coming to see the rodeo!" Celestia said with breathless enthusiasm.

"Well, don't that beat all?" Troubleshoes said. "Ah'm one of the rodeo clowns fer this event. Maybe you'll like the show me n' two others are gunna put on halfway through the events? It'll sure be funnier than me crashin' into ya in the streets, huh?"

"I look forward to it, good sir," Celestia said with a smile.

Troubleshoes grinned gleefully. "Glad to hear it. Welp. Ah'm off to practice fer the show. See ya there."

With that, Troubleshoes tipped his hat and turned towards the stadium. He was obviously hot inside. He met the elegant, caring Celestia purely by accident, and the smile on his face was clearly from pleasantness.

As she followed Luna to the rodeo, Celestia whispered, "Oh, my me... He was SO HANDSOME!!!"
