The diagonal lines in this and the last page have quite a bit of aliasing... Perhaps it'd be a better idea to draw those out at twice the width & height and then resize to 50%via Bspline (bicubic, lanczos, and bilinear are too sharp) for a manually-done 4xSSAA.

But if do stay with your current method, may I recommend uploading PNGs instead? High-contrast images with large amounts of solid color tones (in this case, white & black) can at times compress better as a PNG than even a JPG with relatively high compression!
(and without even mentioning 128 color PNGs)

I should have mentioned, even if you do some manual 4xSSAA, a PNG still may compress better than a JPG.
Also I completely forgot, maybe it's just the program I use (XnView), but I find that 256 color-reduced PNGs have considerably smaller filesizes than native 256 greyscale PNGs...even though they physically use the exact same color palette.

haha! Well, if you just fiddle around with the color reduction and greyscale settings and then compare the final file sizes yourself, you should be able to discover on your own what the optimal settings for PNGs are.
