There's no particular story behind it. The time of my life when I completed this, I was feeling pretty weak and off my path that I needed to be at. Rhinos are the epitome of strength and in their own way, as you say, beautiful. It helped me feel better.
He was actually going to be the first in a three parter featuring anthro rhinos but I never have gotten around to starting the other two pieces; and I've been pretty indecisive about the poses. Maybe they'll be done within the year.

i like the idea and the rhino is handled nicely, some bit of me thinks that the background (if its gonna be there) might be handled as nicely as the rhino. or maybe without a background at all, and just some nice shading beneath him to place him in that space (which you have now just with the background)

Looks great, but i can't help but wonder why you would make a rhino an archer. They have piss-poor eyesight and their massive hands couldn't accurately fire an arrow...

Yes, I could care less either way, but I still make inquiries.
I do understand how this can seem rude, but I wasn't critisizing the art really. I still faved it, it's a very good piece of art, I just want to know if there's any reason behind the mixed logic. I would accept any explanation from "shut the hell up bitch" to "because the rhino is a shaman with the ability to see with his mind's eye allowing him/her to target foes from incredible distances and use their immense strength to launch a spear-sized arrow at the enemy."
More curiosity than anything else, I respect the artists decision to make whatever the hell they want.

This is fantastic, i love the idea of an anthromorphic rhino! It's good to see some other animals being brought into the anthro world. I applaud you.
As for the artwork itself, you've done a marvelous job. Acrylics can be tricky but you've done wonders with them. Your sense of anatomy is almost spot on as well.
My only qualm is the fact that the dear rhino has a bow. I imagine with fingers like those he has a tough time using it.
But who cares, really. Suburb job.
