Description Abram wolf. A costume we did here to see how much padding we could fit into one costume. The costume is close to 7 feet tall when standing straight up.

A few more photos can be seen here:

Photo was taken at Yosemite this January.

Oh so sorry if this was answered but, how'd that wolf fair in the snow like that?

Again, you kick ass. The locations are AMAZING! I mean, Yosemite? You went to Yosemite with this? It's so effing natural looking I want to put it in National Geographic! You are an incredible artist.

Thank you .

I like taking photos of the costumes in more natural settings when I can. I took a vacation when I was out in california and took the costumes with us to Yosemite and Joshua Tree. I had never been there, so did not know what to expect. But when we got there, it was to die for.

This particular day was somewhat dark and most of the photos were a bit drab. The 2nd day was way nicer but no costumes were brought out that day.

Costume fare very well in different environments. Snow is just water, so as long as you dry your costume with a fan after, there is no problem at all.

Well worth it, and I plan to hit the grand canyon next time I can take a small vacation.

Grand canyon! How wonderful! ^^ I can't wait to see those

I think furry photograph's are very much a different art form in itself. Most people just take pictures of themselves at cons or the generic blue velvet backdrop which is fine if it's all you want to remember- but I think taking place in a natural setting or a setting fit to your fursona/character is something that shows you how deeply you develop and interact as such or with. It's very personal when I see them because I'm not thinking "Oh, Latinvixen sure can pose in that Abram suit!" No, I think "Whoa, Abram looks amazing! He looks incredible with his black fur contrasting the snow!" I think of the character/fursona themself. Like, when I get my suit, I don't want people saying "Aw, Dani looks awesome" I want them to think "Whoa, look at Wolfsong howling like that!"

Not to say that I don't distinguish fantasty from reality, but it is like a nice break from such by seeing these lovely picturs of Abram ^^

I just like to add a bit more to the photos if I can. I do take all the first shots here at the house against my backdrop for the site. But once the costumes are out and about I am looking for natural locations for better photos.

I tend to remember photos like this a bit better.

LatinVixen In reply to KiRAWRa [2008-04-04 02:14:35 +0000 UTC]

Water doesn't hurt fur , so no need to waterproof. Just have to dry them afterwards.

"how much padding we could fit into one costume"

that explains it. he's just.... sooo.... THICK. xD
not a bad thing though, he was meant to be super-intimidating, right? [well, he is]

his stare is beautiful and alive, more so than any other suit i've seen. JUST like real black wolves. they're eyes are just so piercing. it's perfect. :]

Okay, that is, by far, the most bad-ass looking suit I've EVER seen.

I absolutely love the setting for this photo, btw. I could not have imagined a more perfect location/environment to really show off the majesty of this work. Fantastic job, as always.

I love taking photos against natural environments. I have some nicer photos in way better quality. Just need to sort through them. For some reason the photos that day were not as crisp as usual, but it was my first time taking photos in the snow while snowing .

Oh, out of curiosity -- did you do anything special with the feet to enable the owner to wear them in such moist conditions? Or were they just accepting some risks of water damage?

LatinVixen In reply to roothragon [2008-04-03 23:47:16 +0000 UTC]

Snow is just water, so no real biggie. We just made sure to dry them right when we got back to the hotel.

Good as new

True! Though I guess it would take a while, even the foam would dry up eventually if it got wet. Sweet.

Looks like I just missed this round of commissions, but I had some legwork to do anyway. Hope to catch you next time!

Amazing! That stare is pretty intense. The shift in proportions (abs and chest lower than the user's) lend to a more animalistic feel to it. I love it. And those are the most impressive illusory digitigrade legs I've ever seen. Great job! I'm so jealous!
