Samantha Grey - DU Hero (c) Latroma

Holy crap, Lat's DRAWING something?  Yes.  Inspiration is gradually coming back, as some of you patient souls who stuck with me have noticed.  "Homecoming" is on temporary hiatus as I get used to drawing again and reconsider what I was doing with the storyline.  For now, however, I thought a chance to do 'fanart' that involves Sam's various relationships in the Deviant Universe period and primary canon would be nice to help remind me the love of drawing and what the heck I was doing.

The first collection:  The demon's lovers.

First on this list is Sam's second lover, Riese "Dusk" Kiff, a Necromancer and something of a savage stealth-op who she met in Branded-Curse 's first Viper's Collosseum event.  Despite the fact that the two absolutely loathed each other early on, and Sam literally stole Dusk's first kiss in the middle of a match, leading to at least one nasty fight outside of the confines of the collosseum, they began to develop a twisted sort of friendship, leading to Samantha descending into hell to rescue her friend's soul from its depths and resurrect her before they would occasionally travel together, one helping the other with this "superhero nonsense," and the other trying to help the other find the killers who destroyed her necromantic order.

Dusk is technically not Sam's second lover, but rather the second sexual partner who stuck around as a pairing long enough to have permanence (Sam, after all, didn't generally consider most partners prior to this as lovers, but rather meals.).  She also has what is arguably the most successful, stable and not-ruined relationship with Sam of any of her partners.  Dusk was never deeply invested in the partnership, but was committed enough after coming back from the dead to be willing to help her friend out.  However, that stability brought with it the realization that, while Sam probably cares deeply for her, there was never an intention to make things permanent.  They would just occasionally find each other, get into hijinks and screw.

To this day, such events probably still occur though the sexual element is almost certainly significantly reduced now that Sam has found a serum that handles her needs.  Whether they were ever truly romantic, or just friends with benefits who stayed friends after the benefits became less pressing is impossible to say.  I doubt either knows.
