Just done as a break from all the realism.contest entry for
I'm not very fond of the whole bubble fetish. I hate chewing gum. I just did this because I felt like drawing Dawn. (I'll do the art trades when I feel like it k)
In the contest rules, it said to draw Dawn in her regular clothes or some princess gown ~Hikari96 made. I chose the gown. c:

I don't even get the whole bubble fetish, and feel it's really stupid, but that doesn't matter.
The dress design isn't yours so I'm not going to comment on what I feel about that, but I really like the tassels on the end of the upper portion of the dress! And I've always liked how you've done your hair to keep it from being one solid mass. :>
Realism gets tiring, but once you've done more and more studying of it yields you building your drawings with more ease. Well, that's what's come out of my stuff anyways.

Yes that makes a lot of sense! Even if it doesn't 100% fit with everything else like Rinko said it's good that you have started to see things as they are. Losing you? I mean, not shading something because it's shaded like that in other pictures, but because you understand what it's made out of.
The only problem I'm having right now is trying not to make things too detailed or realistic, as the point of cartoon/anime is a simplified look. Not make shit up and hope it looks alright like all the other 12 year olds, but to just simplify and stylize what you've learned. That's why I think it's important people do realistic studies.
Which makes me so pleased I want to pinch your cheeks that you're growing. c:

I can't use critique but I'll just say what I think here;
You're definatley improving with your...cartoony/non realism style. The head doesn't seem to big or small for the body. The hair looks nice, like it's individual strands, but it kind of seems to stand out and not fit with the way everything else is colored. It's a good hair technique, but it just seems to look kind of weird with the textures on the dress.
The dress looks pretty though! Nice sparkly effect, it goes well with the way the skin is colored. Like, they both seem kind of spotted...if that makes sense.
I hope I helped, I don't usually critique things, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
