Description

I thought I should add some of my older artworks onto here! This was done for a painting class I took around 2019. It was part of the final, which was to make two paintings that could be any subject we desire, but it had to show us using techniques we had learned throughout the semester and influence from any artwork in art history. In the case of this painting, I chose European still-life paintings as my historical influence and decided to showcase what we had learned that year about drawing glass and reflective surfaces.

As for the subject, at the time I was playing a game called Lioden and I remember as finals were coming up I had just crowned a new king on there! I wanted to celebrate but was not in the mood to paint all the fur of a lion's mane, I just knew it would have taken me forever!

So instead I decided to paint the things that were associated with him; the necklace on the left is one he wears in-game while the flowers in the bottle next to it are the same as these bushes from his background image, the tusk that tops it along with the amber on the bottom-right references a headpiece he wears. And of course, the star of the show, who still took forever to paint even though I avoided painting a lion for this exact reason; the giant mouse lemur, is his familiar. The yellow bottle isn't anything significant, it was just one we had in class which I used to fill the space.

It was a lot of tough work but I still really like the end results!
