Description
In June of 2008 police said they arrested 11 Brazilian army soldiers for handing three young men to a brutal gang in Rio de Janeiro that murdered them. The bodies of the victims-two students and a laborer-were found in a dump. Two of them had been shot more than 20 times each, mostly in the head. Witnesses said they saw soldiers grabbing the youths, aged 17, 19 and 24, in the Morro da Previdencia slum on Saturday, taking them to a military post and then to a rival slum where they were handed over to the waiting gang members.
