This reminds me of the deserts in Arizona or somewhere like that, is it based off somewhere in particular?

It's nowhere in particular. Actually when I started it was suppose have a lighter and more pastel sky for a floral tree painting but it didn't work out so I made it into a desert instead to suit the sky.
