Description Hi everyone! Here is a watercolor painting (I edited the colors so they're a bit brighter than the actual painting) that I made of a dog in my canine club.
Jinko was a 3 year-old very fierce golden retriever, extremely joyful. I love this moment, where he was looking at his owner.

Please don't use this painting, it's a tribute, not meant to any other usage.

Utterly beautiful. I love the texture of the fur, how happy that pup looks,
and especially the blue background that fades. Awesome portrait there!

I love how you paint fur, it looks so soft and it just blends so perfectly with the rest of the piece
Smart choice with the background, it compliments his eye colour well C:

Thank you I made tests with paint tool sai beforehand to choose as carefully as possible the background color.
Also his eyes were brown, but on this photo, they reflected his owner's clothes, and I found it nice to put this touch on his portrait... <3

Also thanks for the fur! It was the first time I did fur like this in traditional art, because it's basically my digital art method, and I was super happy to see it actually worked pretty well this way

Welcome, and really? Thats quite thoughtful, usually I just pick whatever colour hue was in the shading and slap whatever comes to mind in the back. He looks lovely regardless. Goldens usually do, they just have such a calm and regal air about them. That or theyre total goofs hahah

No problem. I can never get fur right and whenever I try anything realistic it just seems awkward. I can truly appreciate it best when I cant do it no matter how hard I try hahaha I seems I need more practice.

Ahhah yeah I totally agree about the super calm /vs super goofy golden retriever! This one was a total goof <3

Also I think taking some time to make  little color / composition tests before a "big" painting gives a much easier time when it comes to painting for real I took the tip from TamberElla and actully took the habit much faster than I would have thought

Brilliant dogs, retrievers. Honestly If I had to have any dog it would either be a GSD, Collie or a retriever. Theyre all just so well mannered and smart enough that training catches on easily.

Hmmm I should spend some time looking into compositions and such. I have a few things bookmarked like youtube vids that explain how to put together a nice overall image and how to catch the eye and such. ONE DAY ILL GET AROUND TO THEM I SWEAR

Well I have a labrador mix, and honestly, although we had (still have but less so) issues with him, he's still such a good boy! Really nice to work with, and most importantly, he's very fond of humans. EVen if it means he doesn't like other dogs that much, it's a pleasure to work with him because he's always there to at least try.

And As for compositions, yeah it's always nice to learn things I don't spend that much time watching videos or anything, but I catch little tips here and there (such as: the more details on what you want the viewer to look at and less details on the rest of the painting --> easier to paint AND more catchy. I did it in this very painting )

Awe thats so cute
I have a collie mix and a beagle currently. The collie is legit an ANGEL! Its actually so hard because everything the beagle does seems huge because the other is so well behaved when in reality both doggos are very well behaved considering
I lot my pets so much ahhh

I usually put the videos in the background for noise and then sometimes something will stick but I would go looking more than anything. I am horribly unobservant when I dont need to be so small tips and details completely sail over my head hahaha

Oh gosh I soooo understand you! My dog trainer often needs to remind me my dog is like super well behaved compared to other's because each little issue we have with him sounds huge to me when it actually isn't such an issue....

And well, I totally get you for the background noise videos, I tend to do that too, but with pokemon shiny hunting vids lol

Dog trainer? Fancy! I usually go at it with the help of youtube and some money for treats lmao

Sometimes its art tips, sometimes its someone ranting and occasionally its even a educational video because hey, if it looks interesting and its good background noise then I might as well
(Also did you sent me a note?? my stupid fingers deleted it my accident...-!!)

well I want to become a dog trainer myself so I decided to hire someone Plus on Youtube you will find mostly "positive methods" to which I don't adhere, and I needed someone competent to teach me how to behave for my dog (my dog trainer works a little bit more like Cesar Millan, a little softer maybe, as he doesn't provoke the dog like Cesar can do).
And as Buck's agressivity towards other dogs seemed serious to me (it actually wasn't serious at all btw) I didn't want to mess things up. And Also, even though I knew the theory about separation anxiety I didn't have a single improvement in two months, on my own. Working with a pro helped me to identify why it didn't work, and eventually, find the best way to help.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxdBfX… the black lab in this video is actually my dog

And YES I did send you a note with the beginning of a speedpainting for you but maybe you wanna wait till it's finished?

Ahhhh, yeah I would love to work with a dog trainer but I feel like I'd get too frustrated or get intimidated. It doesn't help that I don't have much money to put into much training. It's going well. Rylan, the beagle, is well behaved but his barking is louder than most and it just seems so important and shocking when my other dog does the exact same

Ahhh!! I'd love to see it if it's online, I always love I see how people make them you know?

Well my trainer is really a super nice person, very humble too. As for the money, I was lucky to be able to afford it But he made a payment plan for us, that helped a lot too!

And as for the speedpaint, it should be available within less than an hour

Well we saw 5 different trainers. 4 told me my dog was lost for the world, and we would never be able to make things good enough. Nicolas on the contrary showed such a bright optimism! Thanks to him Buck can now be left alone (we have to crate him though, because he tends to destroy out of frustration, but he never panicks like he did before, and is always super calm when we come back), and when handled by someone relaxed, Buck simply ignores other dogs, whereas he used to attack straight away (and as I'm a bit of a stressed person, it's not always perfect with me, but he's so much better than he used to be!! and never once did he attack another dog, proof we do a good enough job)

I am happy that you like it ;A; I will send you the file later

Awe yikes! Its hard to imagine considering the video showed him so well behaved. Well I suppose every dog needs someone to give them a chance and Im thankful you stuck it out with him, it must be so rewarding to see him now. Its always hard to tell when a dog is doing better at first because it happens so slowly that you dont even notice until its pointed out

And Im VERY happy with it C:

Well Buck's nickname is "gremlins" because he's just the most adorable dog ever.... UNTIL another dogs arrives
Most people at my canine club were afraid of Buck at first because of how violent he acted around other dogs ^^" Now it's really much better! And you're so right, when you're in the middle of a dog reeducation you don't always see the improvement

well it's more like a school for Dog/Owners There you have classes (we're in "expert" ) where you go every weekend  work on exercices, and each week you have homework to do (exercices to repeat, words to teach to your dog, or train in having the right behaviour, when to treat, when to correct etc etc);

For example, last month theme was dog proximity, working very close to other dogs, which is extremely hard for dogs who either are always wanting to go play or wanting to fight (Buck lmao). We worked on the interdiction to take interest in the other dogs. These exercices often surprise people because they would like their dogs to be nice and play with all the other dogs in the world. But it's actually absolutely one of the best thing to teach a dog: you can forbid him to go towards other dogs, this way he won't annoy an ill,  fearful or aggressive dog you may accounter one day (like a relative's ), it also helps when you have multiple dogs at home and simply want them to rest (my parent's dog is able to play until he littlerally falls asleep on the ball... ). and finally it's the same order you can use for anything, and I already used it to forbid Buck to go towards people who were very fearful of dogs (the poor guy, we were with my friends and had 7 dogs, and Buck is the only one to obey to this order, so the poor guy had 6 big dogs coming to him... I wasn't so pleased at my friends XD)

This month theme is working at distance, learning our dogs to stop on command even if he's far away, or running towards us, and teaching them to go on a target (for example a square on the ground, or mount on a table that's 10m away)

Ahhhh it still sounds so fun!!
That poor guy though, I can't imagine what it would be like if he was actually scared of dogs!!
Wow that sounds so impressive, I wouldn't know what to do with those commands though

The guy actually tensed a lot, while the rottweiler mix female was sniffing him.... My friend was telling him not to worry, that she was super nice. It's right, she's a cutie, but I actually don't like when people say "It's okay he only wants to play!"because... well the person doesn't necessarily wants to have your dog around them XD (and because sometimes people don't know anything in dog language, and think the dog is playing when he's not...)

It happened once with the same friend, we were walking 4 dogs together this day, and we crossed a woman with a beautiful tchecoslovian wolfdog. The woman sees us, and from afar asks us to attach our dogs because hers "doesn't like dogs".
From what I saw (and I start knowing how to read dogs...) her dog actually didn't give a freaking damn about us, she was the one stressing. But hey, I still attached Buck (because HE was starting to act badly, growling etc. ), and my friend.... just told her she was afraid for nothing, that her dog was cool... and let two of his three dogs go sniff the wolf-dog.... I was furious. The wolf dog was super calm, he didn't seem too happy to have two unknown dogs coming to him, but actually didn't show any sign of agressivity, but the girl was panicking  like "please call them back, I don't want him to bite them, and your small dog, really he could hurt her, please call them back". Finally he called them back, and the woman left, not really pleased...
And my friend has the guts to tell me "hey what a bitch we can't even walk our dogs in piece, her dog was actually super cool!" when he was the one not letting the other walk her dog in piece.... Seriously, what the harm would have it done to attach his three dogs, wait till the girl passed, and free them again?

For the man who was afraid of dog, he ended up actually petting some of ours, but Buck still impressed him because he was black, and he saw him growl and bark at a dog faraway, so well.... I just asked Buck not to annoy the man, but I'm sure he would have liked him, because Buck is just so great with people. But, well... I try to respect people's wishes!

but yeah, a well behaved dog is indeed, impressive I'm always stunned when I see Buck, because 90% of the time he's just so great. I still remember the day he saw a dog like... SUPER FAR AWAY and ran like crazy to get to him, and I only called him once, and he turned back right away and came back happily to my side XD Making his goofy smile 'no I didn't try to attack this poor dog who's so far away we barelly see him...". I love when he does this XD
