Late. He was late. On your date. He was never late. Heck, he hated when someone was late. Today was your fifth anniversary, and your boyfriend, Barry, had invited you for dinner to celebrate it at the finest and most famous restaurant in Sinnoh. But was now one hour late!

"Excuse me miss, would you like I take your order now?" the waiter asked, which was like the fifth time now.

"Can you please wait a little longer?" you said without looking at him.

He nodded and left you alone again. You looked at your watch. Barry was lucky that he was dating a girl who was very, very patient, unlike him. You decided to call him again. The phone rang. But nothing. You sighed as you put your phone back in your bag.

You jumped as you heard plates crashing and a familiar voice shouting "Excuse me!" You knew who it belonged to. Barry. He ran to your table and gave you a quick kiss on your forehead before he sat down in front of you.

"I'm so sorry (y/n)! I know I'm one hour late. Please forgive me." He panted.

You sighed. You couldn't be mad at him. You knew there had to be a good reason.

"Better late than never they say," you said with a small smile.

He smiled back with his goofy smile and cupped your cheek with his hand. He rubbed it with his thumb and let it go so he could take a look at the menu. The waiter came shortly after he chose his meal. The same waiter asked for the sixth time and this time, he took the order.

"So how was your day?" you asked, starting a conversation. "I haven't seen you since this morning."

You didn't notice immediately but Barry was really nervous. You didn't want to ask him, in case you would upset him.

"I was with Lucas," he said as he scratched the back of his head. "What about you?"

"Well, I spent the day with Dawn. She wanted some advice for her next contest."

The food arrived and Barry immediately attacked his dinner. You laughed at his impatience and started eating yours too.

"Eat slowly," you said. "You don't want to stain your tuxedo." You giggled.

He grinned and apologised.

Time skiped to dessert. You both shared an icescream together. He would steal your treat by darting his tongue in your mouth. He then licked his lips and smirked while you blushed madly. He paid the bill after you finished and took you for a walk.

You both walked all the way to your secret place. It was beautiful lake with many water-type pokemon living there. When you were kids, you would jump in the lake and swim together until it was time for dinner. Since you two started dating, every year, you would spend the night here under the stars.

When you turned around, your eyes widened when you saw Barry, kneeled down on one knee. He took a deep breath.

"(y/n). We've been friends since as long as I can remember and dating for exactly five years now. Thank you for always being patient with me." You both chuckled. "I know I'm childish and impatient, but you ignored my flaws and told me to never change and be myself. You're kind, smart, funny, strong and I can't imagine my life with someone else other than you. Would you please make me the happiest man in the whole world and be my wife?"

He opened the little blue velvet box and revealed a silver ring with your birthstone on it. You covered your mouth and gasped. Tears were streaming from your eyes. You tackled him to the ground and kissed him passionately. He wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed you back.

"I'll take that as a yes?" He raised an eyebrow.

You nodded and kissed him again. After a few minutes you pulled apart and helped him to get up. He then slid the ring on your finger while kissing you. After another make-out session, you both lied down on the grass and cuddled each other under the moonlight. You both eventually fell asleep in each other's arms.

You hoped that he won't be late on your wedding day.
